Background of the Study

Business intelligence (BI) encompasses the strategies, technologies, and tools organizations use to analyze data and support informed decision-making. IT-driven BI solutions enable firms to uncover actionable insights from vast datasets, facilitating better forecasting, trend analysis, and resource optimization (Olatunji & Eze, 2023). In large-scale firms, BI strategies play a pivotal role in identifying market opportunities, improving customer engagement, and enhancing operational efficiency.

In Benue State, large-scale firms face increasing competition, necessitating the adoption of sophisticated IT-driven BI strategies to maintain their competitive edge. While many firms recognize the potential of BI, the successful implementation and utilization of these strategies often hinge on factors such as data quality, technological infrastructure, and workforce expertise (Usman & Bello, 2024).

This study explores the impact of IT-driven BI strategies on corporate growth in Benue State, examining how these strategies contribute to improved decision-making, profitability, and overall performance.

Statement of the Problem

Despite the growing adoption of BI solutions, many large-scale firms in Benue State struggle to achieve their desired outcomes due to challenges such as inadequate data integration, poor alignment of BI strategies with business goals, and resistance to change (Ibrahim et al., 2025). These challenges hinder the realization of BI’s full potential in driving corporate growth.

Furthermore, limited empirical research on IT-driven BI strategies in Benue State highlights a significant gap in understanding their effectiveness. This study aims to address these issues and provide actionable insights for firms seeking to optimize their BI investments.

Objectives of the Study

1. To examine the adoption of IT-driven business intelligence strategies in large-scale firms in Benue State.

2. To assess the impact of BI strategies on corporate growth, including profitability and decision-making.

3. To identify challenges faced by firms in implementing IT-driven BI strategies.

Research Questions

1. How widely are IT-driven business intelligence strategies adopted in large-scale firms in Benue State?

2. What is the impact of these strategies on corporate growth and performance?

3. What challenges do firms face in implementing and utilizing BI strategies effectively?

Research Hypotheses

1. H₀: IT-driven BI strategies do not significantly enhance corporate growth.

2. H₀: BI strategies do not significantly improve decision-making processes in large-scale firms.

3. H₀: Challenges such as data integration issues do not significantly hinder the effectiveness of BI strategies.

Scope and Limitations of the Study

The study focuses on large-scale firms in Benue State and their adoption of IT-driven BI strategies. Limitations include variations in BI maturity levels across firms and potential respondent biases during data collection.
